About Us...

ECCHO Homeschool Co-op currently runs about 100 children from 30 families. Meeting at Coastline Calvary Chapel Navarre for 10 weeks in the fall and 10 weeks in the spring, we are a group dedicated to raising our children in a Christian homeschool environment and surrounding them with like-minded families for support, encouragement and fun. Each Wednesday during the 10 weeks, we meet and offer a variety of classes for our children's enrichment. Each semester brings a whole new set of classes, so check back often to see what's going on. Don't forget to check out our photos on the scrapbook page as well!

Nursery through High School ages offer a wide variety opportunity for your children to meet new friends and get some classroom time in as well. Sometimes, even though we love having our children at home and teaching them, we all could use some extra outside stimulation. Kids will thrive and grow being in a classroom/group setting and learning how to cooperate in that environment. Certain challenges and opportunities present themselves when moved to a setting where they must listen to someone other than a parent or online curriculum. Necessary skills are gained and the kids enjoy the break from their regular schedule. Parents need the break just as well. While most parents are involved in either teaching or helping in some capacity, co-op is an opportunity to bounce ideas off other parents and gain ideas and support while doing your Friday duties.

Opportunities present themselves throughout the year for various activities, all of which are optional. During the Summer, some people meet for beach days. During the Fall/Winter, park days occur at a local park. Teens have get togethers. Field trips are always welcomed and happen whenever a parent organizes them. Robotics has been introduced at various times and relative field trips/competitions associated with that have been attended. Outside professionals of all kinds have been invited into co-op to speak with the children on various subjects.

As to what classes are being offered, the class list changes each semester. Depending on the knowledge of our current parents, we try to take advantage of parent strengths. We always have parent turnaround due to people moving, taking breaks, etc. so we are constantly getting a new influx of knowledge and skill that can be passed on to our children. Practical things like photography, cake decorating, Survival skills, Web design, and Life Skills like budgeting, house repair, and Sewing have all been classes offered. What do you know how to do? Passing along our knowledge to the next generation is a great honor and just as you appreciate when another parent can teach your child something you're not strong in necessarily, the other parent appreciates it when you teach their child something. It's like a big family just trying to help each other out.

We are a Christian based group, so it is not unusual for us to pray and have a small devotional before each session. Our purpose is to honor the Lord in everything we do and encourage our children to love and honor the Lord and each other. While specific Bible classes are not taught, Christian concepts are encouraged in the classroom (Bible worldview, creation, bible verses, acknowledgement of God and His authority in our lives). Teachers in each classroom are required to read and sign a statement of faith acknowledging our basic Bible beliefs and that no teaching contradicting these beliefs will be introduced into the classroom.

So we'd love to have you come join us. If we are in the middle of a semester, feel free to contact us and schedule a visit. You can come see us in action on a Wednesday and if you like what you see, be able to join us the following semester. Happy Homeschooling!
